The Meaning of Being an Oblate In contemplating my final oblation, I have had to ask myself "What is my motivation?" After much prayer and contemplation, I have come to know that it is a call to holiness. God has led me down this path because He knows the desires of my heart. I will come to know the desires of my heart through the Benedictine way of life. He teaches me daily that which I lack, the value of humility, obedience and silence. He does this through His word and the Holy Spirit. The stability of a praying, worldwide community is a source of strength and comfort as I daily answer my call to holiness. I long to prefer nothing other than to be with Christ and to be Christ like in the world. (This was submitted by a woman who just completed her oblation.)
If any other oblates have some personal thoughts about their oblation and they would like to submit their thoughts for the benefit of others, please send them to Fr. Bernard Sander. |
